Weekend Reading - Nov 23, 2007

  • Moolonomy has hosted this weeks Carnival of Personal Finance.  He put a lot of effort into this carnival as he commented on every article that made the cut.  MDJ submitted "How Call Options Work - The Basics".
  • Preet from WhereDoesAllMyMoneyGo is on a roll with quality content.  The article that caught my eye this week was "The IPP" article.  I had no idea that an individual could setup a defined benefit plan without company backing.  It appears that the returns from an IPP surpasses that of an RRSP because of the extra contribution space given to those who qualify.
  • I've read a lot about QTrade (not to be confused with Questrade) and their award winning customer service.  I haven't written about them because I don't personally have any experience with them. Besides, they seem a little expensive with their $19.99 trades.  Canadian Capitalist has interviewed a QTrade client about his experiences with the discount brokerage.  If you haven't already, you can read my Canadian Discount Brokerage Comparison here.
  • The Financial Blogger has a creative article "Understanding Credit as a Relationship".

MDJ, thank you for highlighting the carnival. I thoroughly enjoyed your easy explanation of a rather intimidating investing concept.

  3. Hi FT - thanks for the kind words and the mention! :)

    Have a great weekend everyone,

  4. Thanks for the link FT. Cheers!

  5. Hey FT,

Just a reminder that the Canadian Tour of Personal Finance bloggers will be held on Tues Nov 27th.

I changed the date from Sunday as I forgot that many people will be watching the Grey Cup.

The other Tour participants are listed here:
    http://www.canadian-money-advisor.ca/tour-participants.html?TourDate=2007-11-27

And as always, don’t forget to promote the tour a little to get your readers excited about it.

    Thanks,

    Monty Loree
