Weekend Reading - June 16, 2007

It’s Saturday, and I know that some of you are surfing the net skimming through some blogs that you follow. Yes, most blogs take the weekend off. Yes, I usually do too, but I figure since I’m on the computer anyways, I’ll put up another post on some interesting articles that I’ve found during the week:

  • Credit Card Lowdown has posted an article on “The 100 Most Inspirational Personal Finance Turnaround Stories Online“. We are honored to have made the list.
  • Four Pillars is a new blog started by a regular comment contributor “Mike”. He has some great articles already posted, but one that really caught my eye was his article “Leveraged Investments - My Grand Plan“. He’s using leverage to buy long term dividend paying stocks. The strategy is to hold the strong dividend payers forever which will hopefully lead to the dividend yield exceeding the interest payment (after tax). I plan to implement a similar strategy once I get the new mortgage.
  • Blain Reinkensmeyer of Stock Trading 101 has made it to the Final Cut to be on a Reality Show called the Next Internet Millionaire.  There are 50 finalists left, and only 12 get to travel to Colorado and be on the show and take a shot at winning $25,000. Vote a 10 for the 2nd audition tape below to show your support:

That’s all for now, enjoy the rest of your weekend!

  1. Thanks for the link and kind words MDJ!

I have one more post coming on Monday where I discuss various exit strategies. I’m definitely leaning towards eliminating the investment loan during retirement. As far as keeping the stocks ‘forever’ I’m not sure about that.

You’ve inspired me to think about doing a “bonus” post today.

    Mike

    p.s. can u add a comment feed?

  2. Hey Mike,

You can keep up with the comments either by email where you check the box at the bottom of the comment submission, OR the comment feed (http://www.milliondollarjourney.com/comments/feed/). All the best!
