Questrade Offers Free Trades in July!

A rep over at Questrade contacted me last week to give me and my readers a heads up on a promotion that Questrade is offering for the month of July (2007) called ZERO IN JULY.

If you sign up in the month of July, you'll get 31 free trades! Not only will you get free trades, if you transfer your assets from another brokerage, Questrade will pay for the transfer fees (up to $150)! All you have to do is use the offer code: QTZK01 when you apply. I've also been notified by the rep that the referral bonus still applies!

What is the referral bonus? Check out my Questrade referral post.

Notes:

  • You need to be referred by a member before start the application in order to get the referral bonus.
  • You need a minimum of $1,000 initial deposit to open an account.

To Summarize:

  1. 31 free trades if you sign up in July.
  2. Questrade will pay the transfer fees from your existing brokerage (up to $150).
  3. The $50 referral bonus still applies!

I already have my wifes RRSP with Questrade, I'm now contemplating transferring my own self directed RRSP over. For those of you not familiar with Questrade, you can read my articles: Questrade Review and Canadian Discount Brokerage Comparison.

Update: I have written a new article on the Questrade USD rrsp and referral promotion.

  1. Excellent deal. Wish I could find something similar for the U.S. :)

Are the 31 free trades just for use in July, or do they carry forward?

Looks like the trades are only good for use in July. Too bad.. I was thinking this would work for my RRSP for more than 5 years :D

  4. “Once August rolls around (or if you’ve used your 31 trades), you are eligible for our regular low fees — the lowest in Canada.”

Now, it says that you can sign up any time in July and get the 31 free trades. But from the above quote from Questrade site, it definitely sounds like you must use all your free trades by the end of July.

Deal doesn’t sound as sweet anymore. :(

  5. I could’ve predicted this would happen - I just opened my account. When? You guessed it - the last week of June - so no free trades for me..
