Million Dollar Journey

Building Wealth through Saving and Investing

Links for Charity: Need Charity Ideas!

The Links for Charity program that I have initiated here has surpassed the first $100 threshold thanks to a generous contribution from “The Thrify Scot – Mortgages“. In total, MillionDollarJourney.com has collected a little over $160 in charitable donations thanks to our sponsors: Mortgages, Cash Flow 101, Stock Trading 101, RedFlagDeals.com, and North x East.

Now comes the choice of which charity to donate the money to! As promised, I will let the readers/sponsors vote on where to donate the money, with the only rules being that it must be a Registered Canadian Charity.

Below are the charities that I like due some personal reason or another:

Now, tell me which Canadian Charity is YOUR favorite that is not on my list. When I get enough responses, I will set up a poll of the most popular choices so that you can vote on your favorite. Feel free to leave your response in the comments or by email.

Given your blog is about your financial journey, I think it would be great to use the money to support people who are on a journey.

The current situation in Darfur is horific. People are walking week after week on a journey for survival. I spent a year in Sudan and Rwanda back in 93. The UN said “Never Again” after Rwanda, but it is happening again now in Sudan.

So I would suggest using the money to support Sudan (my favourite agency that is working in Sudan is Samaritans Purse International Relief – their Cdn office is in Calgary.)

  2. I would suggest anything to do with sick kids. After having our own kid come 10 weeks early I can honestly say those dollars due save lives.

    CD

  3. Keep the ideas coming along! I just received an email suggesting the “United Way” b/c they donate to the charity that you want, but receive matching donations from business’s.
